The Trudeau Liberal government tabled legislation to legalize marijuana right before the Easter break.
Although legalizing marijuana across Canada was a campaign promise made by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, there are many causes for concern with the legislation that has been tabled.
The largest cause for concern is allowing kids as young as 12 to legally be allowed to possess small quantities of marijuana. Flying in the face of the medical industry’s professional recommendation.
“The medical profession in Canada has said that no one under the age of 25 should be a regular user of cannabis, of marijuana, because there is still brain developments going on. The Liberals have come out and said they’ll set the age at 18 and the province can adjust that just like the liquor availability now. It can be 18, it can be 21, it can be 19 but 18 is still very concerning.”said MP Gerry Ritz.
